Spring to Summer 10 Minute Make Up Routine

Do you have a makeup routine? I’ve honestly never had one, and for most of my life never wore anything more than a bit of mascara. While I’m still pretty far away from being a makeup guru, I have really enjoyed learning about new products and new ways to wear makeup. Fake lashes being my favorite of all, what a difference they make!

While I have developed a daily makeup routine, by no means am I an expert. I am lucky enough to have found a few products I love and that work well for me, so thought it would be fun to share them in hopes that one of two of these items will work for one of you as well!

Now, I am 100% not a morning person, so a key element to my routine is that it's short, sweet, and effective. I literally take no more than 10 minutes to complete my look, which I love. Another component to this routine of mine is to have a more natural look. While my husband thinks I look nice when I’m done up all extra, overall he prefers simple. He also hates how long it takes me to get ready, so less is more in that regard too!

My Spring/Summer Makeup Routine

Step 1. Tinted moisturizer

I don’t know how I never knew about tinted moisturizers, but it’s been about a year since my discovery and I’ll never, not use one. My skin dries out pretty easily but then I also get oily in my T- Zone, so it’s been hard for me to find products that don’t make it worse. This Beauty Counter Tinted Moisturizer has been amazing for me! I use the medium tint during the Spring and Summer (when I have some more color) and use the light tint during the Fall/Winter. If you find yourself on their site, chose Monique Sweet as your consultant at checkout, she's amazing!!

Step 2. Pressed powder

Another game changer for me. Other powders were always too light and didn’t give the coverage I wanted. Pressed powders have worked really well for me. The two I use are Mac and Arbone. I prefer a matte finish, so the Mac Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation is my preference.

Step 3. Brow Gel

If there is one item I refuse to leave the house without applying, it’s my brow gel. I used to use a pencil, which I still like, but the gel is so much easier. It used to intimidate me because I thought I would apply too much and it would look unnatural, but if you find the right color and product it saves so much time AND looks amazing. I use the Beauty Counter Brilliant Brow Gel. My color is "Light" to go with my dark and lighter hair, it’s the perfect in between!

Step 4. All in the eyes

This last piece consists of a few steps but they are all done together so I felt silly breaking them up. One of the last things I do in my routine is add some shadow and liner to my top lid, then apply mascara. On a normal day, I only add a neutral color to my lid and a top liner, but sometimes I fill in my crease as well. A blush pink is my go to lid color and a dark brown for the liner. I use a dark black mascara to make my light brown eyes pop! My favorite pallet is either the Tartelette in Bloom clay pallet or Kylie Cosmetics The Sorta Sweet pallet.

Step 5. Lips

Last but not least, I add some lip color. It varies each day, but it’s usually a matte lip with a matching liner. I don’t have the most plump lips, so I over line just a bit, fill in, then apply a matte lip or gloss over top! Most often I go with a neutral color that has a pink undertone to it.

XOXO,

Nicholette
